Pigments could be generally divided into natural and artificial synthetic pigments. The use of pigment in drugs should be in accordance with relevant regulations of National Medical Products Administration. Pigments should not be used in traditional Chinese medicines (crude drugs and decoction pieces,). This Guidelines provides guidance for the determination of pigments in drugs, including traditional Chinese medicines, chemical drugs, and excipients.
